Kenya – President Kenyatta says he will not allow anti-gay violence

The society cannot just lynch and torture us and the government condoning the violence and crime against humanity, this gross human rights violations that is always overlooked must start being taken seriously and eradicated or tackled.

The President has warned against “witch-hunts” on homosexuals saying they have a right to protection under the law as stated in the Constitution.

Uhuru Kenyatta asked the public not to take matters into their own hands and harass community members.

“I will not allow people to persecute any individuals, or beat and torture them,” he said during a CNN interview on Sunday night.

Asked about the issue of gay rights, Uhuru referred to a press briefing US President Barack Obama, who visited in July, saying Kenyans are “not at that point in time”.
